After returning to Overlook from the mines, the Band of Jenkins found that a messenger from Brindol had been looking for them. She had been captured by mercenaries and held in the abandoned temple of Pelor by the meddlesome Lost Ones. Our heroes faced the Lost Ones and their super-intelligent hounds and rescued the messenger. She begged that the Band return to Brindol, as their aid was needed once more.
In the town of Brindol, the heroes arrived at the Hall of Valor, where they learned of a talking sword and a bounty on their heads. The sword, named Amyra, directed the party to the Fortress Greystone, where a portal to the elemental chaos had been opened. While the portal was being used to channel a dark power to a gnoll leader, its closing would release energy that could be used to return Amyra to her true form.
The elf mercenary, Thorn, dogged the party in Brindol and on the way to the fortress, proving himself a nuisance. After an arduous journey to the fortress, the Band of Jenkins found the quest was going to be far more difficult than they could have imagined. On the steps of the fortress, the adventurers faced several gnolls and a stonewalker spirit. The spirit not only inhabited the statues guarding the entrance to the fortress, but turned the dwarf Auggie to stone as well.
Leaving Auggie on the steps, our heroes wove their ways through the mazes of the fortress and arrived at the portal room. Defeating the leader of the gnolls, they managed to close the portal and return Amyra to her human form.
Worn down and exhausted, the band found it impossible to rest in the fortress. Dragging the statue of Auggie with them, they took to the trees for a much-needed rest--which they would not find. Thorn attacked the depleted party, with astral falcons and hounds which took the party to the brink of death. Only narrowly was he defeated, and claiming the mystical statues as their own, the party dragged themselves back to Overlook and safety.
