Something's Wrong with Overlook

After fighting their way out of the fortress, the group found no rest on the road back to Overlook.  While Shade slept, a voice spoke to her.  Identifying itself as Lavinia, the disembodied voice warned of an unseen threat growing in Overlook and beseeched the party to make haste to the Shrine of Erathis in the city.

Upon reaching the city walls, the Band of Jenkins was alarmed to discover the city was preparing for war.  Speaking with the guards and workers at the city's edge, they found no explanation for the work other than "it's a good idea."  Frustrated by the lack of response, the band decided to focus their efforts on ridding themselves of the statue of Auggie and getting their dwarf back.

They headed first to the Hearth and Kettle, the inn that is the base of their operations in Overlook.  The party knew they could trust the inkeeper to provide them with any information she knew, and they would welcome the chance to rest and re-stock.  The inkeeper, Regan, told of no real threat to the city, but had information of construction going on within the city as well.  Since most of Overlook's citizens are dwarves, the city has a large cathedral to Moradin in the heart of the city.  However, the heroes learned that the old, run-down temple to Moradin in the poor part of town was being rebuilt-- and no expense was being spared.  Regan suggested the band go to the cathedral in search of a ritual to revert Auggie to dwarfdom.

At the cathedral, the Band of Jenkins was refused services.  Claiming all the priests were busy aiding in reconstruction, the head priest Dunkirk recommended they go to the old temple and have the ritual done there.  Smelling a trap, the party hesitated and went first to the shrine of Erathis to meet this Lavinia.

Lavinia, a priestess of Erathis, had still more worrying news for the party.  She told of strange behavior among the priests in Overlook.  She also told of the disappearance of Halin, the keeper of the shrine of Erathis.  Halin had disappeared without warning some weeks ago.  Her replacement, Grovald, was mistrusted by everyone and insisted that Halin had just gone on retreat.  Lavinia echoed stories of the strange construction at the old temple of Moradin and suggested the band speak with the priest Dunkirk.  She also asked them to look for clues at Halin's house and discover her whereabouts.  In return for their aid, Lavinia agreed to perform the remove petrification ritual on Auggie.  By the time she finished her tale, it had grown quite late and the streets were becoming dangerous.  The Band of Jenkins ventured back to the Hearth and Kettle to enjoy the feast Regan was throwing in their honor.
